Biography

Ana Nogueira is an American screenwriter, actress, and playwright. She has recently become a key architect of James Gunn's new DC Universe (DCU), having been tapped to write the screenplay for the highly anticipated film "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" (2026). Before her rise as a major Hollywood screenwriter, she established a successful acting career, most notably playing Penny Ares in the hit series The Vampire Diaries and Kay Costa in The Michael J. Fox Show. She also has a significant background in theater; she was the first actress to play Eliza Hamilton in the original Vassar workshop of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton. Her writing was brought to James Gunn's attention in 2023, and her script for Supergirl, which adapts Tom King and Bilquis Evely's comic run, was reportedly so strong that it fast-tracked the movie into production. She is also currently developing scripts for a live-action Teen Titans movie and potentially a new Wonder Woman project.
