Born January 8, 1987, in Stockwell, London, to Nigerian parents, she trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before rising to prominence with her Tony-winning performance in The Color Purple on Broadway. She expanded into film with acclaimed roles in Harriet and Widows and gained global recognition as Elphaba in the Wicked movie adaptations, earning multiple award nominations.
