Biography

Emily Mortimer is a British actress, screenwriter, and director known for her elegant yet grounded performances across film and television. She gained early attention in Lovely & Amazing (2001), which earned her an Independent Spirit Award. She went on to star in notable projects such as Match Point (2005), Shutter Island (2010), The Newsroom (2012–2014), and voiced Holly Shiftwell in Cars 2 (2011). Mortimer also appeared in The Kid (2000), Mary Poppins Returns (2018), and Lars and the Real Girl (2007). Beyond acting, she created and wrote the miniseries The Pursuit of Love (2021), where she also played Aunt Sadie. Emily is celebrated for her nuanced portrayals and her ability to bring warmth and complexity to her characters.
