Biography

Omar Sameer Mahamid is an actor featured in the Israeli short film Butcher’s Stain (2025), which received a nomination in the Best Live Action Short category at the 98th Academy Awards. In that film he plays Samir, an Arab Israeli working in a Tel Aviv supermarket who is wrongly accused of tearing down hostage posters and must fight to prove his innocence to keep his job. Butcher’s Stain won a Silver Medal in the Narrative category at the 2025 Student Academy Awards and brought international attention to Mahamid’s work as an emerging talent in cinema. Born and raised in Umm al-Fahm in northern Israel, Mahamid has appeared in several short films and a handful of smaller roles before his breakthrough in Butcher’s Stain. With a grounded, human performance in the film, he draws on his experiences and brings depth to characters navigating prejudice and daily challenges.
