Biography

Eskil Vogt is an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter and director known for his ability to blend deep psychological realism with elements of the supernatural and dark comedy. He met his long-time creative partner, Joachim Trier, while they were teenagers working on the technical crew of live TV shows in Norway. While he is most famous for co-writing all of Trier’s feature films, including the acclaimed "Oslo Trilogy", Vogt has also established himself as a master director of genre-bending cinema. His directorial debut, Blind (2014), won the World Cinema Screenwriting Award at Sundance. His second feature, the "bone-chilling" supernatural thriller The Innocents (2021), premiered at Cannes and solidified his reputation for exploring the darker, unvarnished moral world of children. In 2025, his latest collaboration with Trier, Sentimental Value, became a global critical sensation, earning a 19-minute standing ovation at Cannes and receiving 9 Academy Award nominations in early 2026, including Best Original Screenplay.
